​“Oh…” she smiled at Tadrinus. “This is pretty sudden, but you will get an explanation soon.” With that, she did another curtsy and went back into her room, leaving the two behind. Tadrinus looked to Lawlinon with confusion, who shook his head.
     

“Like she said, he’ll explain everything to you. Come on, he is probably done with his speech, and we can meet him in his office.” Lawlinon turned and started to walk down the hall. Tadrinus looked at the door for another moment before following him through the halls, this time at his own speed.
     

When they made it to the office, Verisdon hadn’t returned yet, but they were let in to wait for him. It took him an hour to finally arrive at the office, and the two were silent the whole time. Tadrinus spent the time trying to figure out what was going on but saw Lawlinon taking quick looks out of the corner of his eye at him the whole time.
     

“I’m sorry, some of the advisors needed to talk to me,” Verisdon said as he opened the door. Tadrinus stood up straighter. He hadn’t expected to meet royalty in person, let alone two. While the royal guard definitely had more chances of being near the royal twins, they never talked to them. 
     

Lawlinon nodded, then waved at Tadrinus. “He just arrived. I brought him to see Amalane already.” Verisdon nodded. “I’ll leave it to you to explain it to him. I should go back to her so Kynlemol can do his lap.”
     

Without waiting for the king to acknowledge him, Lawlinon turned and left the room. Verisdon turned fully towards Tadrinus with a small chuckle before moving to his desk. “Sorry about him. He’s on duty.” He waved to the chair on the other side of it. “Take a seat. I have an important job for you.”
     

Tadrinus did but still bit his lip. “An important job? Why me?”
     

Verisdon stared at him for a moment. “It's just a feeling, but you will do a lot for me and my sister.”
     

“A feeling?”
     

Verisdon smiled and was silent for a moment once again. “Yes,” he said, then straightened up. “Now then, I want you to be one of our three personal guards.”
     

Tadrinus’s eyes went wide. “But I just passed the knight test. I don’t know anything.”
     

Verisdon shook his head. “That doesn’t matter. We can teach you what you need to know. It’s important that you take this job.”
     

Tadrinus sat up straighter, the weight of expectations falling on his shoulders. He didn’t know why they were picking him, but he couldn’t fail them. He stood up and nodded, “I don't know why you picked me, but I will do my best.”
     

Verisdon smiled, “Like I said, I know you’ll do good things.” He looked at the door before standing up. “I'll show you around. I would want Kynlemo and Lawlinon to do it, but both are busy.” he moved closer to whisper to Tadrinus, “Also, I can get out of work I don’t want to do.” He then left the room, giving Tadrinus no choice but to follow.
     

Tadrinus chuckled before following him. He wasn’t surprised that a child wouldn’t want to do work. He wondered how much work Verisdon had to do and hoped it wasn’t too much. Verisdon gave him a tour of the castle, telling him what each room was for.
     

At some point they passed by Kynlemol, who seemed to ignore them as he was checking each window he passed. 
     

Eventually, Verisdon led Tadrinus down a smaller hallway. He stopped at three doors. Two on one side and a single door on the other. He pointed to one of the two doors on the left side.
     

"This will be your room." He opened the door and led Tadrinus in. There was a closet, a bed, and a desk. "You can decorate it however you want, but any purchase will be with your own money." He then waved back to the hall, "Lawlinon and Kynlemo are the rooms right next to you. If you need any help, they can do it."
     

"What about the other?"
     

"Other?"
     

"Your third personal guard? You two always have three. Just like how there were three heroes."
     

Verisdon chuckled that he tried to cover up with a cough, "he died."
