She turned and entered the town now having a plan of what she wanted to do. She knew that the circus only had night shows, so after she got some food she waited in line for a ticket for the council. Once she received hers, she went back to the inn to freshen up before heading to the town gate.
She walked up to the ticket stand, and Rasod was standing there. “Welcome to Curio Circus.” she seemed to stare at Menda for a moment. “Do I know you?”
Menda gave a small smile, “I helped out someone in your circus before?” she held up a finger. “Just one ticket please.”
Rasod’s eyes went wide “Wait…” she leaned a little closer to her before smiling, “you helped Denre.” She grabbed Menda’s hand before she could place her money on the counter. “You helped her so much we couldn’t take your money.”
“But—”
Rasod shook her head. “No ‘but’s. It’s something we all agreed upon.”
Menda sighed but nodded. If it was something they all agreed on, she knew there was no fighting it. She headed into the tent, finding a seat in the back, the best place to see Roziy’s part. She spent the night laughing with the audience, her smile growing when Roziy came on center stage. The lights died down and centered on him. Knowing what to look for, she could see the smoke billowing at his feet. His voice seemed to fill the area.
"There once were two gods who competed against each other." His arms raised up, and the lights turned off. It was dark for a moment before the lights turned on above them, lighting the clouds above. In the clouds stood two gods facing off against each other, one in red and one in blue.
"While one god, the god of creation, found this amusing, the other, the trickster god, became madder with every failure."
The red god seemed to rise up slowly, standing on a pile of trophies, his smile growing bigger as he went up. The blue god seemed to grow smaller. He crossed his arms and glared up at the red god.
"But after a time, the trickster god figured out a way to get his ultimate revenge."
While the red god turned away, talking to some shadows, the blue god brought his hands close, a swirl of blue smoke starting to build up in his hands, spinning faster and faster.
"And so he created them."
The blue god lifted his hands into the air and above his head, and the blue, swirling smoke shot up, splitting into six little clouds before forming into objects: a mask, a sword, a belt, a bracer, a book and a pair of shoes.
"Dhuotl’s legacy. Though that was not the trickster god’s name—That has been lost to time."
The blue god collected the items in his arms and walked over to the red god, offering a smile.
"They were named after their wearer, the god of creation."
The red god smiled back at him and slowly placed the items on. The blue of the items clashed against his red.
"But they weren't just normal items. These were believed to be the first cursed items created."
