Day XX Month 07 Year 1518

The increase in the number of sacrifices seems to have helped them, or maybe once one is born the rest are to follow. Either way, The Child of Ice has appeared. This time it was a girl again, this one looking like a fifteen-year-old.

~*~*~*~

She looked down into the hole she would enter. She crossed her arms. Even from here, she could tell how cold it was, but that didn't matter. She would be in and out once she had been changed. The others say it wouldn't happen. There were many before who had tried, but none had succeeded.

What made her any different?

But she could tell, she didn't know how, but she could tell that she would be brought back.

She pushed up her sleeves, something they made her wear because it was "tradition". She didn’t care about that. The only thing she wondered as she took the plunge was how long it would take for her to be back.

~*~*~*~

She plans to stay in the town to protect it from Pitydden who had been making threats once they got their own child. She has refused to show her tattoo but people had been watching when the sacrifice happened and was sure that there couldn’t have been a switch.

Another child, another reminder of what happened to my brother. I don’t know what I plan to do….I don’t even know what I want to do anymore.

Day XX Month 01 Year 1519

Mithfield seems to have misplaced their child. They can’t really watch what goes on when they sacrifice it seems but there was a sighting of their child in another town. She was a young one, looking only to be about ten years old.

~*~*~*~

She curled her arms tighter around herself. The rain was cold and the wind didn't help. It was pouring which made it hard to see, her bangs were sticking to her forehead, but she knew where she had to go.

Every once in a while, lightning would flash and temporarily light the way. This was her third time through the field and she knew it was completely flat. She could do this a little bit more and then she would be fine. All she had left was the last half of her final return trip.

She could do this. She took another step forward and the sky opened with a flash of light.

~*~*~*~

It was assumed that she had failed but she was able to disappear in a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder. No one else with lightning magic has been able to do the same.

There was also the fact that an older girl had dragged the Child of Lightning away. According to the reports, she looked to be seventeen.

~*~*~*~

She couldn't move as she felt the dirt start to cover her. Her hands were tied in front of her. She was crying and begging for them to stop, but instead of an answer, only more dirt was piled on her. Some entered her mouth, and she spits it out. That only let more in.

No one would help her and she couldn't climb out. She felt a heavy layer of dirt covering her body.

She knew this was her last chance and opened her eyes. It was hard to see with the tears, but she could make her out, the one person she always trusted.

"Please...please help me," she reached up to her with both hands.

The person left her view and she cried even harder as dirt continued to enter her mouth and throat as they finally started to cover her head.

~*~*~*~

I’m worried. On my last trip to the tunnel outside Termouron, on the anniversary of his death, there was a crater in the dirt. It hadn’t been there last year and I fear that just like Light and Darkness…the Child of Lightning was traveling with the Child of Earth…

If…If she had succeeded where my brother failed…
