Xavi frowned. "Are you sure none of them had someone else they wanted healed?”
Sean shrugged. “I suppose it could, but then wouldn't it be an attempted kidnapping rather than an attempted murder? There would be no reason to use that room or try to kill Peyton. That would only cause problems for them.”
Xavi nodded, “well I can check with the other heroes to see if any of the villains they regularly fight were badly hurt recently. It won't help Damian, though, as he doesn't have an assigned hero.”
Sean nodded, “that would be very helpful to lower the suspects.”
“Is there any other villain besides them you think could have done this?”
“I have someone else, but don’t know if you wanted to talk about it.” Sean muttered.
Xavi gave a smile. “Don’t worry about that. I can’t offer much, but I can offer my insight.”
Sean sighed. “HH thinks it is Plasayal.” Xavi sat up a little straighter, and Sean spoke quickly. “I know you don’t want to talk about him.”
Xavi clenched his hands but shook his head. “No I can. It’s just…hard.” He looked at a blue gem on his windowseal.
“I’m sorry. We can just drop it.” He muttered again.
Xavi took a slow breath before turning back to Sean, “no it’s alright. I said I would offer what I could.”
Sean nodded, feeling bad, but continued. “So…”
Xavi tapped his deck. “It’s difficult to say if he was the one who really did this. No one knows where Plasayal came from. It seemed unusual for him to attack anyone else. If he was the one who did this, then Peyton was an unexpected target.”
“What do you mean?”
“Plasayal is one of the most wanted villains because his goal isn’t to take over the city; it’s killing HH.”
Sean’s eyes went wide. “What?”
Xavi nodded slowly. “We don’t want to inform the other heroes.”
“Why not? Shouldn’t everyone know so they can be on the lookout for him?”
“Like I said, we don't know why he is trying to kill HH. We are trying to keep his contact with others as little as possible for now.” Xavi sighed. “It might not be the best idea, but it is what HH has ordered.”
“That doesn’t sound like the best move.” Sean muttered.
Xavi shrugged. “He is the boss, so we do as he commands.”
Sean nodded and let the subject drop. “Is there anything else?” He looked over his notes once more before shaking his head. “Then head off to your meeting with Jeremy, and we’ll talk in a few days.”
Sean nodded, standing up. “Hopefully, I can figure this out soon.”
“Good luck,” he heard Xavi say as Sean closed the door to his office, then headed to his room.
Sean turned the corner into the hall with his room to see Jeremy leaning on his door.
Jeremy was a well-known hero named Donnew. He had super strength and was currently the only known hero to have it. Some say that his strength could even rival the original hero, The Unyielding Will, though none that knew him ever spoke up either way. Jeremy himself had been too young to ever meet the man. He was a hero Sean worked with a lot when dealing with collapsed buildings, so they became friends.
When Jeremy noticed him, he smirked. “Too busy to come talk to me now that you’ve got a big assignment?”
Sean rolled his eyes. “No, I just had meetings I couldn't get out of. One with HH and one with Xavi.”
“Why did Xavi want to see you?” Jeremy asked, moving off the door so Sean could open it.
Sean moved into the room, placing his notebook on the table. Jeremy followed him inside. “He offered to listen and give any advice since I don't normally do this sort of case.”
Jeremy nodded. “No one besides Addison ever has from what I know,” he muttered. Sean nodded. She had sadly passed away on a mission a few months ago. “Well, you won't need him with us working together,” Jeremy said with a large smirk. “So what did you find?” he asked, flopping onto the couch.
Sean sighed. “Well, first, I wanted to ask you about the crime scene room.”
Jeremy frowned. “What would I know about the room?”
“When I told Xavi about how the room was full of guns that were pointed in random directions. The room was filled with bullet holes.”
Jeremy nodded. “Yeah, it sounds like one of Disshot’s arenas. I haven’t been in that one, but she bragged about a new one she was cooking up, so that might have been it.”
“Do you think she could have done it?” Sean whispered with wide eyes.
